Your sports chiropractor questions, answered
Your initial appointment is 40 minutes and includes a full consultation, movement assessment, and your first treatment. We'll ask about your training history, any current pain or injury, and your goals, whether that's getting back to lifting, preventing injury, or optimizing performance. Dr. Castro will perform hands-on evaluation and begin treatment that same visit. Follow-up visits are typically 20 minutes. Note: first-time patients must complete an initial exam before any treatment begins.
We accept some insurance plans. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by carrier and your specific plan. We recommend calling us at (845) 620-0939 before your first visit so we can verify your benefits and give you a clear picture of what to expect cost-wise. Many athletes also choose to pay out-of-pocket for the flexibility and speed of scheduling.
A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled manipulation of your spine and joints to restore movement and reduce nerve interference, critical for athletes with restricted mobility or joint pain. Soft tissue therapy (like Graston Technique and Active Release Technique) targets muscle, fascia, and connective tissue to break up scar tissue, improve blood flow, and restore function. Many athletes benefit most from both: adjustments restore joint mechanics, soft tissue work releases the muscles around those joints. We combine them based on what your body needs.
It depends on your training intensity, injury history, and goals. Competitive lifters and athletes often start with 1–2 visits per week during acute injury or heavy training blocks, then move to maintenance visits every 2–4 weeks once they're feeling strong. Some high-level athletes use us for preventive care year-round. During your initial visit, Dr. Castro will recommend a schedule tailored to your specific situation and training cycle.
